Fruit trees seem such luxury items. I never realised how easy it is to grow your own fruit!
For instance, Lady Jane planted a mango pip the beginning of the year. She placed the pip in a pot of sand and forgot all about it. A few weeks later a little shoot shot up! Who knew it could be that easy? I thought you need years and years of experience, special soil, special conditions and lots of ‘stuff’ we didn’t have! Boy was I wrong! Just look how big this baby is getting!
Here is another example of a tree we grew from seed. Our Avocado tree started growing without any special help either! The Avocado pip was put in a pot of sand and a few weeks later we had a baby avo tree!
Easy peasy! I always thought you had to stab the poor pip with holes an dangle it in a glass and hope like hell it would grow.
I think I have been brain washed all these years. mmmm.
What I know now is that a little seed has all the information already programmed in it. We just need to put the seed in the soil. The seed does the rest.
I find this amazing. Nature is super cool!
Just look at our Avocado tree’s new leaves!
We moved to a little cottage facing the see at the beginning of the month.
While the house is cute and has a super gorgeous view of the bay, I can’t help but absolutely adore our new resident Olive tree!
Isn’t she a beaut?
Just look at all those baby olives!
I’ll have to learn reasonably quickly how to cure olives it seems!
I’m sure you can guess what the extended family is getting for Christmas this year!
This new house of ours also has a lemon tree outside the kitchen window and a vine tree. It looks as if we might just be lucky enough to have some grapes this year.
I also bought these two lovely trees a few weeks back. A Pomegranate tree and a Pear tree!
How could I resist!?
I was so excited when I got home I just wanted to tell everybody about my two new babies.
Nobody seemed to share my enthusiasm though and I struggled to figure out why?
Who wouldn’t be exited about new fruit trees?
I might only see fruit in the next 2 to 5 years BUT STILL!
I googled and stayed up late learning about my fruit trees and what their needs are and what would make them happy.
It feels as if I adopted. Glorious feeling.
Can’t wait for them to bear fruit!
Pomegranates will bear fruit before the Pear tree does, but it is all worth the wait!
Grow little babies grow!
