Zero Waste is Hard!
It sadens me that my desire for ‘convenient’ packaging and plastic bags cause so many beautiful birds and land creatures to die.
Just because something is a certain way… doesn’t mean it has to be… right?
I don’t want to feel responsible.
I don’t want to imagine a little plastic wrapper I throw in the bin now is causing some beautiful creature to choke and die due to my stupid need for convenient living!
Ok… so thinking about these things are truely stressful, sad and oh so confusing but I’m a grown up right?
Making decisions is what we do!
So I’m going to take responsibility for my garbage!
Today… this month… this year!
Doing what is right when no one is watching is ultimitely how it should be right?
The good stuff.
Ok plan of action!
How do I do this? How do I go from throwing EVERYTHING away and create a HUGE bin of junk to throwing NOTHING away!
Wow… this IS harder than I thought. I managed to throw nothing away for one whole day… ! One day? That’s rediculous.
The only thing that ended up in my bin were these produce mesh bags that my oranges, onions and potatoes are packaged in.
I haven’t found a use for them yet and the internet has wonderful ideas for them.
One I particularly liked was to crochet a pot scrubber thingie! It seemed cool… I tried it and to crochet something with holes in were really hard!
I’ll have to rethink a whole bunch of things. What I’ve gathered is that I would need to stop shopping at the local grocery stores because EVERYTHING is packaged in plastic. Some you can recycle and some not.
I now buy my produce from an online shop called the ethical co-op. They deliver to my house once a week and their packaging is in bio-degradable bags! Yeah! So you can compost it.
How do you go about zero waste?
Come on! Do this with me and lets learn from each other. This MUST be a better alternative.
Once we are re-programmed it will come to us as if second nature. Natural living!
I like that!
