Aaaah, what is more beautiful than lips stained with cherries. I love the colour of cherries. Shades of deep red with hints of purple. Art!
I am somewhat on a budget of late. So, all the fancy recipes my inner health goddess yearns to create will have to be put on hold. Buuuut, wait.
It just so happened that I had some frozen cherries in the freezer! Yes! A lost bag of chia seeds in the back of the pantry and a few apples ready to be juiced.
So, this recipe is really a frugal one. A on-a-budget one. A only-three-ingredient-recipe one! Score!
However, on a side-note, cherries are really, really sour. So, getting the jam sweet is of utmost necessity. So, I would definitely encourage you to add the maple syrup in the end. It just cancels the sour out beautifully. Do note that the apple juice is very sweet as well.
If you don’t have apple juice or maple syrup. Fear not! An alternative to this recipe is that you can use dates instead and/or honey if not vegan. And also agave syrup will work beautifully.
I am on my fourth slice of toast already. I am really loving this chia jam. Toast is probably not the healthiest of things to eat, but can I refer you back to the ‘I am on a budget’ bit?
On budget and super healthy! I am scoring at this life thing. Do let me know if this is something you would try. You can use any berry of course.
Until next time!
